What does a learner need to do?

Course content

The course has four units you will need to complete for your qualification:

  • Marketing in Business

Develop your knowledge and understanding of marketing tools and techniques and how to employ the ‘seven Ps’ – product, place, price, promotion, physical evidence, people and process.  You’ll also learn about marketing in a business context, branding, regulations which apply to advertising and marketing and how to segment your target market.

  • Research the Marketing of a Product of Service

Uncover the tools and techniques of successful marketing for products and services. Plan and carry out research, analyse your data and present back.

  • Create Digital Marketing Campaigns

Explore which channels are right for which activities and audiences. Get practical skills in developing personas and designing digital communications for a products or service. Learn how to optimise adverts and review their effectiveness.

  • Plan and Present a Marketing Campaign

In this unit learners will plan and present a marketing campaign aimed at a specific target market.


No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required before learners register for this qualification.


Level 2 BTEC Technical Certificate in Marketing.


Unit one: Marketing in Business contributes to 25% of the course total learning hours and is assessed via an online test which allows learners to apply their knowledge to several work-related contexts. Two units are assessed internally using assignments and, finally, the unit ‘Plan and Present a Marketing Campaign’ requires learners to plan, create and present their own campaign.
