Warehousing and Storage

This Level 2 qualification will make sure you are operating safely and effectively in a warehouse environment. This might be as a Warehouse Operative, Picker/Packer or Stock Controller.

You will learn about warehouse logistics; receiving, handling, moving and packing goods; stock levels and creating good working relationships.

This qualification will provide learners the opportunity to learn in a real warehousing and storage work environment and validate the theory and knowledge delivered through training as well as developing transferable skills which will be valuable for further study or employment.

Course content

Learners are required to complete and achieve all the units in this qualification. :

  • Unit 1: Warehousing and Storage PrinciplesThere are five learning outcomes that cover the following areas: the receipt and storage of goods and materials; processing orders and dispatching goods; delivering customer service; health, safety, security and legislation and effective team working.
  • Unit 2: Work experience placementLearners will benefit from work experience in a warehousing environment to boost their practical skills, apply their knowledge and boost their CVs.

On completion of the course you will be able to:

  • Explain how to receive and store goods and materials based on whether they are valuable, perishable, fragile, or hazardous.
  • Understand how to process orders and dispatch goods, outlining procedures for packing safely, securely and labelling correctly.
  • Understand how to deliver effective customer service.
  • Understand health, safety, security and legislation.
  • Understand how to be an effective team worker.

Eligibility

No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required before learners register for this qualification.

Qualifications

Level 2 award from a nationally recognised exam board.

Assessment

All units are internally assessed. This might include project work, observations and work-based assessments.
