TES FE Awards Apprenticeship Programme of the Year 2020
As the largest provider of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Apprenticeships > in the country, we were delighted to be recognised for our work with this specialist sector to identify skills gaps and develop quality training which drives company improvements and success.
The judges praised Skills Training UK’s innovative approach, saying:
“The programme is totally employer focused and is very specific. It works together with sector bodies, local authorities and colleges. As a result, the quality of apprenticeships is excellent. It’s clear to see it’s had a real impact right across the country.”
TES FE Awards Training Provider of the Year 2019
This award celebrates high-quality teaching and learning, learner achievement and business performance. Judges described us as an exemplar of how to be successful as an “employer-responsive, individual-focussed, innovative” training provider.
Judges commended Skills Training for embracing the changing apprenticeship landscape, adding that we received “fantastic feedback from employers, apprentices and learners” and that we have “a great range of Apprenticeships to a large number of learners from deprived areas.”

The SEMTS Skills Awards celebrate individuals and organisations that are bringing real value to advanced manufacturing and engineering sectors.
Skills Training UK’s entry for ‘Training Partner of the Year’ highlighted the long-lasting partnerships it has developed with over 750 STEM sector clients, providing effective apprenticeships programmes for more than 3,000 employees.
Chosen for 1000 Companies to Inspire Europe by the London Stock Exchange Group in 2017
The report is a celebration of high-growth and the most dynamic small and medium sized businesses across Europe. As well as identifying 1,000 companies, the annual reports examine in detail the opportunities and challenges facing SMEs and looks at the sectors and trends that will shape the future of the British and European economies.
Our qualifications for young people and courses for adult learners are accredited by nationally recognised awarding bodies.
One of our key partners is Gateway Qualifications, the not-for-profit awarding organisation for several of our popular courses, including Access to Higher Education: Healthcare Professions.

Ofsted rated ‘Good’ (2017)
Skills Training UK has been rated Grade 2 ‘Good’ by Ofsted in all sections of its Independent Learning Provider report, published on 8th March 2017. The report assessed several areas including the quality of Skills Training UK’s Apprenticeship and Traineeship programmes, the effectiveness of leadership and management, the quality of teaching and learning, and the overall outcomes of learners, all of which are graded Good.
Merlin Standard Accreditation - awarded ' Excellent' in 2012 and 2014
Skills Training UK is the only organisation to twice achieve the grade of ‘Excellent’ for the Merlin Standard which measures effectiveness of supply chain design, implementation, quality and performance.
The report praised, our commitment to collaborative working and the sharing of good practice across the supply chain, also our ‘positive and supportive approach to undertaking business with open, honest and transparent communications’.
Department for Work and Pensions Provider Assurance Testing (PAT) – awarded grade ‘Strong’ in 2010 and 2013
Following this in-depth assessment conducted over a period of five weeks, we were awarded with the highest possible grade ‘Strong’, reflecting our established risk management protocols, good governance and the added value of our services. We are one of only five organisations across the UK to be rated as Strong.
We have been accredited with the Matrix Standard (since 2007) which recognises providers which deliver the highest standards of information, advice and guidance (IAG) services.
Matrix assesses challenging criteria across core themes including Leadership and Management, Resources, Service Delivery and Continuous Quality Improvement.
Our most recent assessment reported: ‘Skills Training UK benefits from clear leadership and direction at both strategic and operational levels,’ and highlighting our ‘high quality service that meets individual client needs through a mix of practical and pastoral support.’
Skills Training UK was awarded the Equal Opportunities Mainstreaming Leader Award at the World Skills UK Show on 14th November 2013.
Positive About Disability
We have retained the Positive About Disability standard since 2009 which is measured annually and assesses our commitment to the 5 principles of the standard which include managing awareness of disability both for staff and customers, and ensuring that our services maximise opportunities for customers and staff to move into or retain employment.
