Digital Marketing and Social Media Apprenticeship the right fit for Emily

For 20-year-old Emily Jones, enrolling on a Skills Training UK Level 3 Digital Marketing and Social Media Apprenticeship made perfect sense.

Concerned about the financial pressure of continuing at university, she decided that she needed a change of direction and is now working at West Midlands firm Central Electrical Contracts Ltd.

“I was studying a media degree at university but soon realised it wasn’t for me,” Emily said. “With the huge cost of tuition fees, I didn’t want to risk continuing with something that I was unsure of, so I decided to start from the beginning and work my way up.”

“It’s a great way to get started because I’m getting paid and at the same time learning the skills that businesses and employers want. I would recommend it to anyone who’s in a similar position.”

Emily attends Skills Training UK’s Academy for Business, Industry and Technology at Wolverhampton Science Park for up to two days a month – with the rest of the time spent with her employer.

Central Electrical Contracts Ltd’s Laura Aston said: “Having an Apprentice has been great. Emily has done so much for us already and she’s even taken on extra responsibilities, such as organising local advertising.

I’m really enjoying the Apprenticeship. I’ve been helping with all aspects of digital marketing, from social media and search engine optimisation through to website design and planning content.
