Success Story

Traineeship for Service Sector helps Jessica gain confidence

Jessica Moyle was referred to Skills Training UK’s centre in Brighton after attending her local Jobcentre Plus.

By her own admission, she struggled at school, having being diagnosed with severe dyslexia, and found English – both reading and writing – a challenge.

Although she had done some voluntary work previously, the six-week Skills Training UK Traineeship for the Service Sector gave her the confidence to contact employers and secure employment.

She now works for West Sussex based catering firm Strong Flavours, waitressing on event days at Plumpton Racecourse.

She also volunteers four days a week at the Marie Curie charity shop in Burgess Hill, helping her to gain valuable skills.

I found school quite difficult. It was a struggle and I didn’t get particularly good grades. But Skills Training UK gave me the support that I needed. They gave me the confidence that I needed to go out and find a job. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. It’s been a real help.
