Skills Training UK shortlisted for FE Week and AELP AAC Awards 2021
The FE Week and AELP AAC Apprenticeship Awards has announced Skills Training UK as a finalist for Health and Science Apprenticeship Provider of the Year 2021. This follows our recent shortlisting as a finalist for the TES FE awards 2021 for Apprenticeship Programme of the Year.
The Further Education (FE) Week and Association of Employment and Learning providers (AELP) AAC Apprenticeship awards are a celebration of excellence in apprenticeship delivery in the UK and provide an opportunity to give deserved recognition to employers and training providers.
Over the past four years, since the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy and new Apprenticeship Standards in 2017, Skills Training UK has grown its offering for NHS Trusts, creating a bespoke approach to design and delivery of tailored apprenticeships programmes which is unique to each NHS Trust and aligns with their specific goals.
During 2020 we invested in expanding our remote delivery to give further added value and continuity for apprentices, with a virtual learning platform, webinars for every apprentice delivered by subject experts, and remote 1-2-1 support.
In February 2020 we launched new Clinical Coder Apprenticeships (Skills Training UK is the only provider nationally) with an innovative model. We also became an NHS Partner of Choice nationally and in London for several standards.
Martin Dunford OBE, Chief Executive, Skills Training UK, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for another industry award recognising our efforts to support NHS Trusts through effective design and delivery of apprenticeships training.
“During a time when the nation has relied on the outstanding efforts of the NHS we made it a priority to be highly flexible in our delivery and provide high quality virtual learning and tutor support which enabled employees to continue their apprenticeship journey by progressing in a way which was practical to them.”
Two of the 37 NHS Trusts we currently partner are the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Claire Felkin, Training & Development Manager , Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, says: ” The virtual training offer has worked particularly well during the disruption from Covid – everyone has done the remote workshops to be able to continue onto the next topics in their training.”
Rachael Bish ,Apprenticeship and Widening Access Facilitator, Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, says: “Skills Training UK spent time understanding our values and really understanding our training priorities. They got right under the skin of the Trust so they could make the training relevant and bespoke.”
