Health and Safety in a Construction Environment

During this Traineeship you will discover and understand how to handle hazards and risks in the construction environment, and the regulatory processes which need to be followed by everyone working on site.

Your Level 1 qualification in Safety in a Construction Environment will be coupled with employability skills training and a high-quality work experience placement, will enable you to progress on to further education, an Apprenticeship or a job. You can also prepare for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) assessment to get your CSCS card.

The course is also ideal preparation for progressing on to further construction qualifications at Level 2.

What does a learner need to do?

Attend regular classes either in-person or online.

Allow time for project work and study each week.

Course Content

To complete the award, you will complete a single mandatory unit in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment. The unit covers:

  • Principles of risk assessment for maintaining and improving health and safety at work
  • Safe manual handling in the workplace
  • Risks to health within a construction environment
  • working around plant and equipment safely

Eligibility

There are no qualification requirements for the course. If you need support in English and Maths, this can be included in your Traineeship.

Qualifications

Level 1 BTEC in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.

Preparation for Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) assessment and the opportunity to get your CSCS Card if successful.

Assessment

The qualification will be awarded to learners who produce the required portfolio of evidence.
