Take the next steps in your leadership and management career with this introduction to the principles of team leadership. On the course you will learn about team leadership styles, the roles and responsibilities of a team leader, planning and allocating work, developing team performance, setting targets and monitoring the work of a team.

Typical job role might include: Team Leader, Section Leader, Floor Leader, Trainee Supervisor, Call Centre Team Manager or Supervisor.

Course content

Understanding the Role of the Team Leader

Learners will gain understanding of the characteristics needed to become an
effective leader and the benefits to an organisation of having effective leadership. They will understand the different leadership styles and how the impact that each style has on team members.

Principles of Developing Team Performance

For a team to be successful and function effectively it must be coordinated and supported. Learners will gain understanding of the importance of setting SMART objectives, monitoring progress and the role that feedback plays in supporting team members.

Understanding team members’ different learning styles and training needs is important to the success of any team. Learners will be introduced to different learning styles and learn how to identify the training needs of teams.

Eligibility

No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required.

Qualifications

Level 2 BTEC in Principles of Team Leadership.

Assessment

The qualification and units are at a pass grade.
