Improvement Technician Level 3

Improvement Technicians are responsible for the delivery and coaching of business improvement activity, often using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

Technicians often work as members of an operational team to resolve problems – preventing re-occurrence, engaging others in issues affecting them and supporting the improvement of performance.

Improvement Technicians work across all industries.

Typical Job Roles: Business Improvement Co-ordinator, Continuous Improvement Executive, Process Technician, Operational Excellence/ Lean Engineer, Lean Six Sigma Yellow belt and Quality Control Analyst.

What does an employer need to do?
  • Provide the learner with the opportunity to take part in work and projects which to produce a portfolio of evidence required for Apprenticeship assessment and completion.
  • Take part in progress reviews at regular intervals.
  • Have some involvement in the project(s) being undertaken.
  • Allow the apprentice an agreed amount of classroom time.

Eligibility criteria

For Improvement Technicican Level 3 the individual employer will decide whether an employee is suitable for the programme. There is no standardised eligibility criteria.

Qualifications and professional recognition

Level 3 competency.

End Point Assessment

To successfully complete the apprenticeship, the learner needs to pass an independent End Point Assessment which consists of three distinct assessment methods:
