Wembley Stadium winning with Apprenticeships

Employees and their Football Association bosses at Wembley Stadium Store are taking part in National Apprenticeships Week (6-10 February 2012) to celebrate the positive impact of their Apprenticeship programme on customer service at the store.

Three members of staff who have completed of their 12 month Apprenticeships in Customer Service Level 2 will be presented on 7th February with their certificates by Skills Training UK, the Apprenticeships provider which has coached them during their programme.

Alex Dixon, Retail Operations Manager at Wembley Stadium, has noticed a significant improvement in the delivery of customer service since the start of the FA Apprenticeships 12 months ago.

He says: “With the huge profile that the store enjoys, we have always been conscious of the need to present the right image to our customers and to provide them with the highest levels of customer satisfaction possible. The training that the Apprentices have undergone with Skills Training UK has resulted in them demonstrating more care and consideration in all aspects of their job.”

Apprentice Martin Wooldridge, Retail Supervisor, said: “Since the start of the Apprenticeship I have gained a full understanding of the importance of having excellent customer service in the work place. The training with Skills Training UK has enabled me to develop as an individual and increase my understanding of the retail industry, which ultimately is going to enhance my opportunities for career progression within the FA.”

Now in its fifth year, National Apprenticeship Week (6th – 10th February) seeks to highlight the positive impact that Apprentices can have on the performance and reputation of both large and small businesses. 80% of those businesses who employ Apprentices agree that they make the workplace more productive and 81% of consumers would prefer to use a company that employs Apprentices.
