College leavers looking for an alternative to university following today’s A-Level results still have plenty of opportunities to pursue the career of their choice.
We are a leading national provider of apprenticeships, traineeships and learning programmes for young people aged 16 to 24 across England, with centres in Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall, Ealing, Hounslow, Wembley, and Brighton. If you didn’t achieve the grades you were hoping for, we can help you find a choice.
Stephen Crawley, Skills Director at Skills Training UK, said while university would be the right choice for some – it was not a “one size fits all” solution.
“University isn’t the right route for everyone,” he said. “There will still be young people trying to decide on their next steps and those who unfortunately haven’t got the grades they were expecting. But there’s no need to panic.
“There are plenty of opportunities out there. Apprenticeships and traineeships offer a real alternative to help young people gain the knowledge and experience they need to pursue the career of their choice. Our programmes have been specifically designed for businesses by businesses, enabling young people to develop relevant and desirable skills that are valued by employers across the UK.”
Traineeships are for people aged 16-24 and help prepare for work by equipping learners with the necessary skills, confidence and experience to progress onto a full-time job or an apprenticeship.
We have developed a range of traineeship programmes to cater for the needs of young people.
Traineeships for Industry is tailored to help those young people looking for a career in manufacturing, warehousing, logistics and distribution. Traineeships for the Service Sector is designed for those looking for a career across a range of service sector professions and provides accredited training in business administration, retail skills or customer service. Other traineeship programmes are in development for hospitality, ICT and health and social care.
All traineeship programmes provide valuable employability and vocational skills and careers guidance as well as a work experience placement with a local employer leading to a job and/or an apprenticeship or further education.
Apprenticeships give young people the opportunity to earn money while they learn specific skills and acquire 'real' knowledge and experience. Current apprenticeship programmes delivered by us include: Business Skills Apprenticeships in business administration and customer service and Industry Apprenticeships in warehouse and storage and performing manufacturing operations.
In addition, we have also just opened a new Apprenticeship Academy at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park – offering Advanced Apprenticeships in social media and digital marketing and IT, software, web and telecoms.
