Skills Training UK will welcome The Mayor of Brent, Councillor Kana Naheerathan, as guest of honour at a graduation event this week (Wednesday 2nd July) at the Learning Zone at Wembley Stadium.
The event will be a celebration of the achievements of around 80 young people from Brent and surrounding boroughs who have completed the Positive Directions programme and made positive strides to improve their chances of finding and sustaining new employment opportunities.
The young learners will each be presented with a certificate for their personal achievement and some will also be speaking about their journey from Positive Directions onto an apprenticeship or into employment.
Special awards will also be presented to employers who have supported Positive Directions through offering excellent work experience opportunities to the young people, some of whom have faced multiple barriers and personal challenges.
Other guests at the event will include Shakila Shand, Director of ABC Housing and Jamal Campbell and Aisha Aminu from the Youth Employment Convention.
Positive Directions is a programme designed by Skills Training UK exclusively for young people aged 16-24 who have left school or college and have not gone onto further education or found employment. It gives them the opportunity to develop skills for employment through work experience as well as gaining new qualifications.
