Leading apprenticeships provider Skills Training UK has opened its first Apprenticeship Academy at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park. The academy is working with a wide number of local employers and is specifically offering training to apprentices in IT and in Digital Marketing. A Fast Track programme for young people who need to develop their skills and experience further before starting an apprenticeship is also offered and has already helped several young people progress into apprenticeship positions with employers.
Skills Training UK is offering a dedicated recruitment service to help employers find the right apprentice. The service helps with writing the job description, advertising the apprenticeship position, screening applicants and holding first round interviews before arranging a final shortlist for the employer. The potential apprentice can also be offered one week’s work placement as part of the selection process.
Martin Dunford OBE, Chief Executive, Skills Training UK, says: “We are delighted to open the Apprenticeship Academy in Wolverhampton and to be offering the IT and Digital Marketing Apprenticeships which are highly relevant to employers today. Skills Training UK has a proven track record in working closely with our employer partners to deliver apprenticeship training that fully meets their needs and our new Apprenticeship Academy in Wolverhampton has brought a new dimension to our offer.”
Social media and digital marketing are essential to every business today and the Advanced Apprenticeship trains a young person to be a social media or digital marketing assistant with the knowledge and skills to create and manage website content and use social media to support company marketing. Apprentices attend the Academy for up to a total of 24 training days and work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Digital Marketing.
The Advanced Apprenticeship in IT is relevant to all companies who use IT within their business, either to support their main business activities or because IT or Telecoms is their business. It prepares the apprentice for roles such as network engineer, web developer, software developer, IT technical support and helpdesk. The apprentice attends the Apprenticeship Academy for a total of up to 10 training weeks and qualifies with a Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals or the Level 3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles.
Both Apprenticeships include Level 2 Functional Skills in ICT, Maths or English where the apprentice does not have this level of functional skills already.
