Skills Training UK has been awarded a ‘Strong’ overall rating by the Department for Work and Pensions, the highest possible grade, as a result of the recent Provider Assurance Team assessment that took place over December and January 2013.
Skills Training UK are one of only a handful of Providers who have achieved the highest possible grade from the DWP Provider Assurance Team (PAT). We also achieved the same grade of ‘Strong’ in 2010, reflecting the strength of our organisational controls and processes, as well as demonstrating our ability to consistently meet the expectations of the Department for Work and Pensions at the highest level.
Coupled with our ‘Excellent’ grade for our Merlin Assessment in January 2013, this result confirms Skills Training UK as a leading provider in the welfare to work and skills sector, and an exemplar of supply chain management and quality.
Commenting on the successful PAT assessment, Martin Dunford OBE, Chief Executive at Skills Training UK, said: “Skills Training UK have delivered programmes to help the long-term unemployed gain new skills and find employment over the last 20 years. This result affirms that the investment made in developing robust systems and processes has been well spent, and we are very pleased that DWP have recognised this in their grading of us”.
The PAT assessment took place over 20 days of testing and analysis, and looked at key areas of organisational and service delivery. DWP requires all of its Prime Contractors to undertake the assessment to establish compliance with regulatory standards, and to establish value for money in contract delivery. Strengths highlighted in the feedback included clear leadership throughout the company, with a robust monitoring and checking structure across Skills Training UK and its supply chain. Supporting the evidence from the Merlin Standard assessment, Supply Chain Partners were able to confirm an excellent working relationship with Skills Training UK, and all received robust introductory training and on-going support through their Continuous Improvement Team.
