Martin Dunford

Martin Dunford OBE

Chief Executive

Working with the Board, Martin is responsible for setting and delivering the strategic and operational objectives. He has steered Skills Training UK’s year on year growth of market share to become one of the country’s leading Apprenticeships, Traineeships and Study Programme providers.

Previously Martin was Chief Executive of The Training and Business Group (TBG) which grew to be one of the largest of its kind in the UK.

He began his career in international sales and marketing, product and business development of high value, hi-tech scientific instrumentation; a demanding advanced manufacturing market where competitive advantage is achieved by rapid, continuous improvement. Whilst working in this market he gained his MBA.

Martin is a founder member and Chairman of The Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) and has steered the organisation in its growth in size and influence.

He was a Board member of both the LSDA and QIA, where he was Chairman of the Finance Committee, and a long-standing member of the Apprenticeship Ambassadors Network.

Martin was awarded an OBE in the 2010 New Year’s Honours list for services to skills training.

Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer Stephen is responsible for the delivery of all programmes and revenue streams.

He has achieved year-on-year increases in funding for all programmes and has ensured Skills Training is at the forefront of delivery of a wide range of Apprenticeship Standards in specific sectors to both levy-paying and SME employers.

Stephen’s background is in quality assurance and continuous improvement for manufacturing, as well as the general management of businesses in education and training.

Director of Research, Innovation and Development

Steven has led Skills Training UK to a number of important quality milestones: the first organisation to achieve an ‘Excellent’ rating for the Merlin Standard twice; an overall grade of ‘Good’ from Ofsted; and full assurance from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) Provider Assurance Team.

Steven started his career at ABN AMRO bank before joining Reed In Partnership to lead the quality team. He joined Skills Training UK in 2009 and was appointed to the Board in 2014.

Steven is a member of the AELP Quality Forum which supports Ofsted and the inspection of further education and skills. He is also a member of the AELP London advisory board which helps to shape the Mayor of London’s Skills for Londoners Strategy.

Simon Gotch

Chairman

Simon works with the Chief Executive to set the strategic objectives and direction of the company. He provides high-level and operational support to oversee quality and delivery within the business.

A key contributer to business development, Simon oversees strategic partnerships. He has managed training and recruitment for the businesses for more than 20 years.

Simon is Vice-Chair of Education South West, a Multi-Academy Trust based in Devon. He is also a Non-Exec Director of CoGen UK, a leading developer of Energy from Waste projects in the UK and Europe.

Graham Clarke

Director of Education and Social Mobility

Graham is responsible for the supply chain management of our European Social Fund (ESF) delivery across several Local Education Partnership (LEP) areas. He also manages our relationships with the LEP’s, LA’s and the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).

As a qualified teacher and experienced educationalist, his knowledge is invaluable in the delivery of our large-scale Traineeships and Study Programme operations. The majority of our learners on these programmes come from a disadvantaged background with very low prior attainment, but all have great potential which is evident from the results Skills Training UK achieves with them.

Mark Parminter

Mark Parminter

Director of Finance and Corporate Services

Mark joined Skills Training UK in March 2018 as Director of Finance and Corporate Services.

He was previously Finance Director on the Board at Ickenham Travel Group PLC where he oversaw a period of significant growth via a number of strategic acquisitions in the travel industry.

Mark studied at the Thames Valley University and is an ATOL licensed accountant. Mark has over 20 years of strategic financial management experience and has worked in finance for a number of multi-national corporations, holding senior roles at the Fortune 500 Company Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) and the Japanese multi-national, Pioneer Corporation.
