Through our successful delivery of Apprenticeships across the Midlands and North West of England, Skills Training UK will be expanding its delivery through its bespoke Traineeships for Industry programme across the West Midlands, initially from our new centre in the centre of Walsall.
Traineeships for Industry is part of the Government flagship Traineeship programme across the United Kingdom, looking to help move thousands of young adults into employment, full-time education, or an apprenticeship. Our training programme has been designed to help prepare young people aged 19-24 for a career in engineering, logistics, warehouse, and distribution through completion of accredited training, functional skills, and work experience. Trainees will also be able to complete their fork-lift truck licence which is essential for warehousing roles and we have already secured vacancies with local employers keen to take on young people on a trial basis leading to full-time employment.
With capacity for over 100 learners at any time, our new centre in Walsall is centrally located in the town centre and provides a significant delivery footprint in the West Midlands. We have established a strong working relationship with local Jobcentre Plus and expect significant numbers of trainees to start the programme from June 2014.
We will be hosting an official launch event this month which will feature representatives from local Jobcentre Plus, employers, and the Walsall Borough Council. This will be an opportunity for Trainees to meet with local employers and find out more about job opportunities in the region.
Our new centre address is:
4th floor, Tameway Tower, 48 Bridge Street, Walsall WS1 1JZ
Telephone: 01922 703072
Contact: David Crawley, Operations Manager
Nearest Train: Walsall Station
Tameway Tower is located in the centre of Walsall and can be accessed using any of the bus routes into the town centre.
