Skills Training UK, a leading Apprenticeships provider for public and private sector employers nationally, is exhibiting at this week’s annual Patient Safety Congress and Awards, organised by Health Service Journal and Nursing Times and attended by over 2,000 NHS leaders.
The theme of the event at Manchester Central on 5 – 6 July is ‘empowering workforces and enhancing skills and services’ and Skills Training UK will be promoting its new ‘Efficiency Toolkit for the NHS’ which it has designed for NHS workforces. The 12-month apprenticeship training programme is designed to empower support staff, whatever their role, to identify the small quality improvements which often have the biggest impact.
Stephen Crawley, Skills Director, Skills Training UK, says: “We are looking forward to speaking to NHS leaders about how we can introduce the Efficiency Toolkit as a bespoke apprenticeship programme focused on continuous improvement and which helps achieve NHS outcomes of safe, efficient patient care.”
Skills Training UK partners with large, private and public sector employers as well as SMEs for Apprenticeships and Traineeships in sectors including NHS, hi-tech manufacturing, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, automotive, business services and IT.
Skills Training UK is also advising employers of all sizes about the Government’s policy for Apprenticeship Levy and Reforms which is set to be introduced from April 2017. Proposals are for all employers with a pay bill of over £3 million per annum to pay a Levy equivalent to 0.5%. The Levy will be paid to HMRC via the PAYE process alongside income tax and National Insurance. An allowance of £15,000 will be offset against the levy liability.
Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) who are non-Levy payers will be required to co-invest a small proportion of funding towards the cost of their apprenticeship training, but the amounts have not yet been set. The Government has committed to publishing further details within the next few weeks.
