Bright Digital Marketing Apprentice Alex gets his head around website CMS

Name: Alex Bishop

Age: 19

Area: Rowley Regis, West Midlands

Company: Plumbing World

Skills Training UK programme: Level 3 Diploma in Digital Marketing and Social Media

Alex came to Skills Training UK after completing a Business Studies course at college. He had received an unconditional offer at university, but decided to take an Apprenticeship to build his practical work experience.

He commented, “I believed that the practical experience would be more valuable to me as opposed to going through the university process.”

Alex started his Apprenticeship in 2016 with Plumbing World. He has been responsible for managing product content across three websites, as well as creating and posting social media posts.

Talking of his various tasks, Alex said: “Over time I have been given more and more responsibility within the role and this has helped to develop my skills. Whenever I have a question regarding the course criteria, Skills Training UK have been there to guide me.”

Alex has shown particular interest in web development and hopes to further develop his skills around this area.

Bridgett Smith, of Plumbing World, said: “It has been wonderful to see Alex grow as a person throughout his apprenticeship. We are very hopeful that that he has a very bright future ahead of him.”

Offering advice to students who are thinking about their next step, Alex said, “Focus on a field that you are interested in and find some practical experience within that field.

“That will give you the much needed confidence to progress your career.”
