Many employers and colleges require you to have achieved Level 2 to apply for a job or a course.

What does a learner need to do?
Attend regular classes either in-person or online.
Allow time for project work and study each week.

Bring a positive attitude to class and any work experience to make sure you get the most from the opportunity.
Course content
Basic pre-entry is an introduction to basic maths so you can lay the building blocks for counting, shapes and using basic measurements.
Eligibility
No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required before learners register for this qualification.
Qualifications and outcomes
Level 1 certificate recognised exam board.
This qualification will seek to enable students to become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine problems with increasing sophistication.
Students can progress from this qualification to a GCSE in Mathematics.
Assessment
Entry Level Certificate in Mathematics consists of one externally-set test and one externally-set task for Entry 1 and 2 and two externally-set tests and one externally-set task for Entry 3. Students must complete all their assessment at the same Entry Level.
There is no set time for when each test or task is completed or for how long the student takes to complete them.
Level 1 is equivalent to a GCSE Grade 3/D-E
